Former EastEnders actor Dean Gaffney has been handed a financial penalty and three points on his driving licence after a speeding offence in Surrey.
Court Appearance and Fine Details
The 47-year-old, best known for playing Robbie Jackson in the BBC soap, was caught driving his £45,000 Audi A7 above a temporary 50mph speed limit in Ockham, Surrey. Gaffney attended Crawley Magistrates' Court on January 7, where he was ordered to pay a £146 fine and received the penalty points for the motoring violation.
Life Beyond the Square
Gaffney, who was a fixture on Albert Square from 1993 to 2015, now splits his time between the UK and international party destinations like Ibiza and Dubai. He maintains strong family ties in Britain, being a father to twin daughters, Charlotte and Chloe. He became a grandfather in 2021 at age 43 when Chloe welcomed her daughter, Mimi, followed by a second granddaughter, Penelope, in 2023.
His personal life has frequently made headlines. He split from the mother of his children, Sarah Burge, in 2015 amid allegations of infidelity. More recently, in October 2023, it was reported he had begun a relationship with 31-year-old ex-Harvard graduate Kate Black. The pair were introduced by friends and were later seen holidaying together in Ibiza.
Career Ups and Downs Post-EastEnders
Gaffney's off-screen behaviour has impacted his acting career. In 2019, he was reportedly dropped from EastEnders after sending inappropriate messages to a stranger on Facebook. However, he was thrown a career lifeline in 2023 with a role in the British film Reckless, alongside Vinnie Jones, marking his first acting job in six years.
His profile has been maintained through reality television appearances. He featured in I'm a Celebrity... South Africa in 2023 and has appeared on E4's Celebs Go Dating on multiple occasions. His brother Gary once claimed the actor had an "obsession" with the opposite sex during his soap heyday, a statement Gaffney has denied.
Despite the recent speeding conviction, Gaffney continues to navigate life in the public eye, balancing family commitments with his work in entertainment.
