In a move that has set social media alight, Cruz Beckham has posted a series of cryptic messages on Instagram, seemingly addressing the much-publicised feud within the Beckham family. The 20-year-old aspiring singer shared posts that referenced 'brotherly love' and the importance of communication, sparking speculation about the state of his relationship with his eldest brother, Brooklyn.
A Public Display of Frustration
On Thursday, Cruz took to his Instagram account, first posting a sweet video depicting one brother gifting a guitar to his sibling. He captioned this clip with the poignant phrase 'brotherly love', accompanied by several crying emojis. This was swiftly followed by an up-close selfie, over which he wrote the emotional plea: 'Life is too short to be silent, at least talk it out'.
Sandwiched between these two heartfelt posts was a picture of a guitar with the word 'Thanks' clearly written on its back. The timing and content of these posts have been widely interpreted as a direct commentary on the ongoing tension between the Beckham siblings.
The Roots of the Rift
The Beckham family, comprising parents David and Victoria and their four children – Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14 – has been engaged in a painful estrangement. The tensions reportedly came to a head in May when Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, snubbed David's 50th birthday celebrations.
In a clear sign of the fractured relationships, both Cruz and Romeo unfollowed Brooklyn on Instagram. The division within the family was further highlighted last month when Brooklyn was notably absent from his father's knighthood ceremony at Windsor Castle. David was instead supported by his wife Victoria, his parents Ted and Sandra, and his three youngest children.
Reports suggest the aspiring chef did not reach out to congratulate his father on this monumental achievement, instead choosing to promote his hot sauce brand, Cloud23, while the ceremony was taking place. Sources claim Brooklyn has become increasingly distant from the family since marrying American actress Nicola.
David Beckham's 'Soft' Parenting Style
Amid the family turmoil, David Beckham recently opened up about his approach to parenting in an emotional interview on James Corden's 'This Life of Mine' podcast, which was released this Tuesday. The football legend, 50, revealed he takes a different approach to his own father's 'tough love' method.
'I am different with my kids - I'm a lot softer than my dad was,' David admitted. However, he was quick to emphasise the values he has instilled in his children, stating, 'My kids are very polite. My kids are very well mannered. My kids are humble and they all have the same values as what I have and my wife has.'
He also shared a specific anecdote about his parenting, recounting how he once motivated his youngest son Cruz during a football match. David told Cruz that if he played well and worked hard, they would stop at McDonald's on the way home – a far cry from the disciplined regime of his own youth.
Despite the current difficulties, David spoke fondly of his family, saying, 'Family has always been important and the greatest thing [Victoria] has ever given me is my four children.' He described them as 'the most important things in our life', a sentiment that makes the public nature of their current rift all the more poignant for the famous family.
