Alan Carr Exposes Claudia Winkleman's Hidden Traitors Personality

Celebrity Traitors champion Alan Carr has provided a fascinating glimpse into Claudia Winkleman's off-screen behaviour during the hit BBC reality show. The comedian, who triumphed in last year's celebrity edition, revealed that while Winkleman maintains a serious on-camera presence, her personality shifts dramatically when filming stops.

The Serious Presenter With a Cheeky Side

Claudia Winkleman has hosted the UK version of The Traitors for four consecutive years, including the inaugural celebrity edition that Alan Carr won. Prior to her Traitors role, she was best known as the co-host of Strictly Come Dancing alongside Tess Daly, where audiences regularly saw her lighter, more humorous side in the famous 'Claudatorium' segments.

Her personality further shone through during her BBC Radio 2 Saturday morning show, which ran from 2021 to 2024. However, The Traitors demands a completely different presenting approach, requiring Winkleman to adopt a more solemn, mysterious demeanour that contrasts sharply with her previous television roles.

Behind the Castle Walls

Speaking on the Table Manners podcast alongside fellow guest Amanda Holden, Alan Carr explained: "I love Claudia," before detailing their off-camera interactions. The 49-year-old described how Winkleman maintains professional distance during filming but reveals her playful side during breaks.

"In the castle, she keeps herself to herself which you have to because you can't [give anything away]," Carr shared. "And when you see her she'll give you a cheeky little smile, but it's not like she's going, 'Oh Alan what are you doing?'"

Post-Show Confessions and NDAs

The conversation took an intriguing turn as Carr admitted that despite signing a non-disclosure agreement, he immediately contacted Amanda Holden after leaving the show to discuss his experiences. "When I came out of The Traitors, I told her everything," he confessed.

Holden recalled their phone conversation: "He went, 'I'm out, I signed an NDA [but] do you want to know or not?' And I went, 'I want to know Alan'. I love gossip but I didn't tell a single person because I was so terrified, and I didn't want to get him into any trouble."

Carr explained his need to share the experience: "I had to offload it's so intense in there, no phone, no laptop." He was crowned winner alongside Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga after successfully deceiving fellow contestants throughout the three-week filming period.

The Current Series Approaches Its Climax

Meanwhile, the current civilian series of The Traitors is approaching its dramatic conclusion with just seven contestants remaining. Thursday night's episode will reveal the next murder victim before another tense banishment ceremony as players attempt to identify the remaining traitors.

The stakes remain incredibly high: if a traitor survives to the final without being voted out, they claim the entire prize fund. However, if all finalists prove to be faithfuls, the prize money will be divided equally among them. The Traitors continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One, maintaining its position as one of British television's most compelling reality competitions.
