Brooklyn Beckham has stirred up a culinary controversy and fresh concerns over his fractured family ties, after sharing a video of himself making a traditional British dish from his Los Angeles home.
A Pie That Divided the Internet
On Thursday, the 26-year-old aspiring chef posted an Instagram clip of himself preparing what he called a Shepherd's pie. The video showed Brooklyn, who lives in the US with his heiress wife Nicola Peltz, 30, meticulously seasoning meat, preparing vegetables, and crowning the dish with a layer of mashed potato.
However, eagle-eyed followers were quick to point out a significant error. Many commented that he appeared to use beef mince rather than lamb. This, they insisted, technically made his creation a Cottage pie, not a Shepherd's pie. The comment section filled with corrections: 'Was that beef? Isn't that cottage pie?', 'Beef is cottage pie, lamb is Shepherd's pie', and 'Clue is in the name'.
The Lingering Family Rift
The cooking video emerged just days after fans pleaded with Brooklyn to reconcile with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham. The couple are said to be deeply affected by their ongoing estrangement from their eldest son, which has seen him miss key family events over the past year.
Notable absences include David's 50th birthday celebrations and the recent ceremony where he received his knighthood. Brooklyn is also reported to have missed watching his father's football team, Inter Miami, win the MLS title.
Insiders suggest the separation is 'taking its toll' on David, 50, and Victoria, 51, especially in the lead-up to Christmas. Brooklyn is expected to spend the festive period with Nicola and her family in Miami, while the rest of the Beckhams gather in the UK.
Olive Branches and Stocking Signals
There have been several apparent attempts at reconciliation from the Beckham side. Brooklyn's younger brother, Cruz, 20, recently shared a nostalgic childhood video of the pair, marking his second public reference to Brooklyn in weeks. David Beckham also posted a throwback photo collage of himself with his sons.
Perhaps the most poignant gesture came from Brooklyn's grandmother, Jackie. Victoria Beckham shared a video of her mother's fireplace, showing personalised Christmas stockings hung for all her grandchildren. Brooklyn's stocking was prominently displayed alongside those for Romeo, Cruz, and Harper, in what sources describe as a deliberate message of inclusion.
'For them, it's their way of showing how missed Brooklyn is,' an insider told The Sun. 'The message they're sending is that the door is always open and he's always welcome. They'd love nothing more than to see Brooklyn over Christmas, put the past behind them and start 2025 afresh.'
Fans continue to urge Brooklyn to reach out. Comments on his posts urge: 'Go and see your parents, you will regret it later in life', 'Call your mum .. you only get one and life’s too short !', and 'Speak to your parents - only one life and it is very precious'. As the holiday season approaches, the hope for a Beckham family reunion remains, but for now, it seems the only thing cooking is controversy in a pie dish.
