Anthea Turner, 65, Finds 'Second Chance at Love' and Becomes a Grandmother
Anthea Turner on second chance at love and becoming a granny

Television personality Anthea Turner has spoken candidly about discovering a 'second chance at love' with her millionaire fiancé, following two high-profile divorces, and has joyfully revealed her new role as a grandmother.

A New Chapter with Fiancé Mark Armstrong

The 65-year-old presenter found romance with businessman Mark Armstrong, and the couple became engaged in 2019. They are now planning to marry next year. In a recent interview, Turner expressed her enduring optimism about marriage, stating she is a woman who has been given a fresh opportunity for love and family life.

When questioned on whether relationships in one's sixties are more about companionship than passion, she firmly disagreed. 'Oh God, no, that's not how it works for me,' she told The Sunday Times. She attributed a renewed spark to hormone replacement therapy and the excitement of a new relationship, declaring herself a 'fully paid-up member of the HRT club.'

Embracing 'Granny Anth' and Reflecting on the Past

Turner also shared the happy news that she has become a grandmother, after her stepdaughter from her previous marriage welcomed a baby. 'I'm Granny Anth! I couldn't be happier,' she gushed, noting she remains close with her ex-husband's children.

Her journey to this point has been marked by public scrutiny. She was previously married to Radio 1 DJ Peter Powell until 1998, when she left him for property developer Grant Bovey—a move that saw her branded a 'homewrecker' as Bovey was married with three young children at the time.

Reflecting on that period last October, Turner admitted she owned up to the affair to prevent further media intrusion, calling it a 'series of unfortunate events.' Her marriage to Bovey lasted 15 years, from 2000 until 2015, ending after she discovered his adultery.

Moving Forward Without Regret

Despite the pain of her second husband's infidelity, Turner maintains a forward-looking perspective. She has stated she does not regret the marriage, focusing instead on the good that came from it. 'I'm a glass is half-full kind of woman,' she told the Daily Mail in 2023, emphasising her belief in moving on rather than dwelling on recriminations.

Looking ahead, her future with Mark Armstrong is bright. Recalling his proposal during a trip to Italy, she noted that when you are older, things move quicker because 'when you know, you know.' For Anthea Turner, this new chapter offers both romantic fulfilment and the simple joys of grandparenthood.
