Angela Scanlon in Advanced Talks for Celebrity Traitors Role

Angela Scanlon, the popular television presenter, is reportedly the latest celebrity in advanced discussions with producers to join the highly anticipated new series of Celebrity Traitors. The 42-year-old broadcaster has emerged as a prime target to secure one of the coveted spots on the show, following her rise to prominence as a BBC favourite through standout appearances on Celebrity Apprentice and Strictly Come Dancing.

BBC's Keen Interest in Securing Scanlon

Angela, who recently stood in for Cat Deeley on This Morning, would join an extensive list of stars rumoured to be participating in the upcoming series, including Steve Pemberton, Richard E Grant, and Hugh Bonneville. A source close to the negotiations revealed: 'Angela's turn on Strictly, and on Celebrity Apprentice earlier this year, went down a storm. The BBC are big fans of hers and are keen to secure her as one of their key talents. Celebrity Traitors would be the perfect fit for Angela. She's clever, mischievous and isn't afraid of causing a stir.'

The insider further explained to The Sun that 'negotiations with talent are still ongoing and it'll go down to the wire. Contracts are often signed in the days leading up to the show starting.' Daily Mail has contacted representatives for both the BBC and Angela Scanlon for official comment on these developments.

Scanlon's Confessed Obsession with The Traitors

Angela herself has openly admitted to being a massive fan of The Traitors franchise, confessing she was 'obsessed to an unhealthy degree' with the civilian series' fourth run last month. Her potential casting aligns with her established television presence, having been a regular on The One Show since 2016, and currently hosting The Apprentice spin-off Unfinished Business alongside the Get A Grip podcast with Vicky Pattison.

The rumoured participant list for Celebrity Traitors' second series continues to expand, with names such as Ruth Jones, David Mitchell, Alison Hammond, and Jamie Oliver also circulating in industry gossip. This follows the tremendous success of last year's celebrity spin-off, which captivated 11 million viewers as they watched Traitor Alan Carr triumph over Faithfuls Joe Marler, Nick Mohammed, and David Olusoga to claim the £87,500 prize money for charity.

Alan Carr's Amusing Secret-Slipping Incident

Earlier this month, Alan Carr humorously recounted how he accidentally revealed his Celebrity Traitors victory within mere hours of filming the grand finale. Despite all contestants being sworn to secrecy after production wrapped, the comedian managed to keep the outcome confidential for only twelve hours. Speaking on Scott Mills' BBC Radio 2 show, Alan described the moment he unintentionally spilled the beans.

'The cameraman goes: "Congratulations" and I go: "How did you know I won?" He said "I didn't." So I told them within 12 hours that I had won The Traitors,' Alan laughed. Realising his blunder, he attempted to backtrack by telling the camera operator he was merely 'joking and teasing.' Alan added, 'I went: "haha, got you!" I had to backtrack, because you can't tell anything. But I did well, and I didn't want to spoil it.'

Legacy of the Star-Studded First Series

The BBC's celebrity adaptation first aired late last year, featuring nineteen famous faces entering the iconic Scottish castle. Among the notable contestants were Sir Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross, Kate Garraway, Joe Marler, Clare Balding, Celia Imrie, and Tom Daley. Competing under the watchful eye of host Claudia Winkleman, it was ultimately comedian and presenter Alan Carr who secured victory as a Traitor, outwitting his fellow celebrities in a thrilling conclusion.
