Alex Bourne, the ex-husband of pop star Rachel Stevens, has welcomed his first child with his new wife, Lily Bourne. The property developer, 47, announced the birth of their son on Sunday, just weeks after his former spouse spoke emotionally about still processing the end of their marriage.
A New Arrival for Alex and Lily Bourne
The couple shared the happy news on Instagram, posting an adorable picture of their newborn dressed in a white babygrow. The joint post, made on Sunday, celebrated their son's first week. "One whole week of loving you, our sweet boy," they wrote in the caption. "You have completely changed our lives and we love you more than life itself. I can’t believe you’re ours. 21.11.25 xo."
Friends and family were quick to congratulate the pair in the comments. One well-wisher wrote, "Wonderful news and huge congratulations to you all," while another welcomed the baby, named Sonny, to the world. Alex and art dealer Lily, 31, began dating last year and tied the knot in a rustic ceremony in East Sussex in February of this year.
Rachel Stevens' Candid Reflections on Grief
The birth arrives shortly after Rachel Stevens, also 47, gave a raw and honest interview about the aftermath of her divorce. The S Club 7 singer confessed that she had never fully "mourned" the breakdown of her marriage to childhood sweetheart Alex, having bottled up her emotions at the time.
"Some days you feel empowered… and then other days you feel like you just wanna cry under the duvet and hide," she revealed last month. "I went from being married and then went into another long relationship, and I don’t know if I actually fully grieved the loss of my marriage."
She described the process of separating and learning to co-parent their two daughters, Amelie, 15, and Minnie, 11, as "terrifying." Despite the personal turmoil, both Rachel and Alex have consistently stated their commitment to harmonious co-parenting for their girls.
Moving Forward as a Blended Family
Alex first met Lily in early 2024, and they got engaged last summer during a romantic walk on London's Hampstead Heath. Their wedding at Lime Kiln Lodges saw Amelie and Minnie take on roles as bridesmaids, though Rachel was not reported to be in attendance. Alex has said his daughters "adore" Lily.
The couple revealed they were expecting earlier this year, with Lily sharing a bump photo captioned simply, "A new chapter." Their new son joins Alex's two children from his previous marriage.
As for Rachel, who split from her Dancing On Ice partner Brendyn Hatfield in September after nearly two years, she remains hopeful about love. Currently single, she recently told BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour that she is a "hopeless romantic" who still dreams of finding "movie love," despite the heartache she has endured.
