A teacher at a private Anglican school in Western Australia has been arrested and charged with multiple serious child sexual abuse offences following a police investigation.
Allegations of Persistent Abuse
Naomi Tekea Craig, aged 33, is accused of engaging in persistent sexual contact with a former male student of the Frederick Irwin Anglican School in Mandurah. The alleged offences are said to have occurred between 2024 and 2025.
The specific charges she faces are two counts of sexual penetration of a child over the age of 13 and under 16. In addition to these serious allegations, Craig has also been charged with possessing child exploitation material.
School's Response and Parental Communication
The school administration moved swiftly to inform the school community after learning of the arrest. On Tuesday, a letter was sent to parents addressing the situation.
The correspondence stated, "I regret to inform you that a teacher from our school has been arrested by police and charged with child-related offences not involving any current student." It was confirmed that the accused teacher has been instructed not to attend the school premises.
In an effort to reassure families, the letter added, "The information available to the school suggests that there is no need for any concern for any other children at the school."
