A road rage thug who used pepper spray on two motorists during a petty parking dispute in a quiet Cheshire village has been jailed for three years and four months.
Incident in Lymm
Curtis Rogerson, 45, pulled out a can of pepper spray and attacked two shocked men on October 9, 2025, after an argument over who saw a parking bay first. The incident occurred in the leafy village of Lymm, near Eagle Brow.
Chester Crown Court heard that the two victims were in a van reversing into a parking space when Rogerson drove straight into the spot. One of the men shouted his annoyance, but they left and found another empty bay.
As their van window was open, Rogerson sprayed an unknown substance into their faces without warning and drove off. The substance was later tested and found to contain capsaicinoids, typically found in pepper sprays.
Victims' ordeal
Both men felt burning on their faces and were helped by passers-by. Detective Constable Kelsie Sherratt of Cheshire Police said: 'Rogerson let a small annoyance over a car parking space spiral out of control, purposefully spraying a substance into the faces of the two victims with the intent of causing them harm.'
'The victims were merely sat inside their vehicle, and this must have been terrifying to suddenly be in pain with no knowledge of what they had been sprayed with or if they would be left with any lasting damage.'
Thankfully, both men made a full recovery, and Rogerson was held accountable for his actions.
Guilty plea
Rogerson pleaded guilty to administering a noxious thing with intent to injure, aggrieve, or annoy; possession of a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid or gas; and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was also sentenced for two unrelated offences of intimidating a witness committed in Trafford.
Following the attack, Rogerson's vehicle was identified, and he was traced and arrested. The court sentenced him to three years and four months in prison.
