Man arrested after shots fired in St Helens

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after shots were fired in St Helens in the early hours of Saturday, July 18. Police were called to Lemon Tree Walk just after 9am following reports of gunfire. No injuries were reported.

Arrest and investigation

Armed officers arrested the man, a local resident, and he remains in custody at a Merseyside police station. Officers searched the area and recovered several shell casings. A police scene remains in place as investigations continue, including CCTV and house-to-house enquiries.

Police appeal for information

Detective Inspector Steven Byrom said: “Although armed officers made a swift arrest this morning after the incident I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed what happened, or has any information which could help us with our inquiries to come forward.” He also urged residents with doorbell footage to contact police, adding: “We are relentless in our pursuit of any offenders who carry dangerous weapons in our community.”
