Miracle Survival After Boat Propeller Accident
A five-year-old boy, Jentry Pace, is fighting for his life after being slashed by a boat propeller during a family trip on Patoka Lake, Indiana, on July 5. His father, John Pace, rescued him from under the vessel and applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. Officer Joe Haywood, who responded to the scene, described it as a miracle that Jentry is alive.
Critical Injuries and Multiple Surgeries
Jentry suffered severe injuries from the propeller and has undergone numerous operations at Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville. He remains in critical condition, and there is uncertainty over whether he will lose his leg. Officer Haywood told 14 News: "There’s a saying that our greatest testimonies sometimes come from our greatest trials. John and Jentry, his whole family’s going through one of the greatest trials they’ll ever go through in their life. And I hope that on the other side of this, there’s a testimony to the goodness of God and one of his great miracles. Because I’m telling you, if you saw what I saw that day, it is a miracle Jentry’s alive."
Fundraiser and Family Support
The Yard Foundation launched a fundraiser that has raised more than £33,000 ($45,000) to support the family financially during Jentry's recovery. The page states that Jentry has "pulled past" his initial injuries but faces a long road ahead. His parents, John and Jana Pace, are by his side while also caring for their two daughters. Jana said on July 18 that her son is struggling with medication side effects but is eager to go home and be "on his own couch."
