The Met Office has forecast more 'very warm' weather for Wales, but the prolonged dry spell may be interrupted by showers. Wales has experienced days of dry conditions amid an ongoing heatwave, which has led to wildfires and prompted Welsh Water to impose a hosepipe ban in parts of the country due to exceptionally high water demand.
Monday's Forecast
According to the Met Office, Monday (July 20) is expected to be fine and dry with some cloud cover, with maximum temperatures reaching 25°C.
Tuesday to Thursday Outlook
From Tuesday to Thursday, the forecast predicts largely dry conditions with variable cloud and sunny spells. However, it adds: "A few showers are possible on Wednesday. Very warm in the sunshine."
Long Range Forecast
The Met Office's long-range forecast for the UK from Friday, July 24 to Sunday, August 2 indicates: "Northern and northwestern areas will be cloudier with occasional patchy rain or drizzle. Into the weekend and perhaps the start of next week, more unsettled weather with rain at times, especially across northern parts of the UK. This rain may very well reach southern areas too, but could become more light and patchy here."
The forecast also suggests that drier weather could return after this period: "There are signs high pressure will return, which means dry conditions would resume, especially in the south." It adds: "Winds will be mostly light or moderate, occasionally fresh around northern coasts. Temperatures are expected to be near or above normal, warmest in the south, perhaps becoming very warm again by the start of August."
