Two Boys, 14 and 16, Charged with Murder After Newcastle Stabbing

Two boys aged 14 and 16, alongside a 33-year-old man, have been charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in Newcastle upon Tyne. The attack occurred on Shields Road, Byker, on the evening of Tuesday, June 16, leaving 25-year-old Gino Robb dead.

Details of the Incident

Emergency services rushed Gino Robb to hospital after he sustained stab wounds, but he was pronounced dead later that night. Northumbria Police launched a murder investigation, leading to multiple arrests. Initially, two men aged 22 and 24, along with a 16-year-old boy, were detained on suspicion of murder but later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Subsequent arrests included two men aged 40 and 33, and another 16-year-old boy, all detained in the Walker area on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. The 40-year-old was later released on police bail. A 14-year-old boy was then arrested on suspicion of murder.

Charges and Court Appearance

Jed Grieve, 33, of Orpington Avenue, Walker, along with the two boys aged 14 and 16 (who cannot be named for legal reasons), have been charged with murder. All three have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear before Newcastle Magistrates' Court on Monday, June 22.

Police Appeal

Detective Chief Inspector Atherton of Northumbria Police's Major Investigation Team stated: "Our thoughts are firmly with Gino's family and loved ones after the tragic events of Tuesday evening. We continue to provide them with all possible support and request that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."

He confirmed the inquiry "remains very much ongoing," with additional investigations across Byker and Walker. Police are appealing for anyone who saw two people on an electric motorbike entering Shields Road from Grace Street minutes before the incident, then heading back along Shields Road. They also seek CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage from the area around that time.

Det Ch Insp Atherton added: "Thank you to those who have contacted us so far and if you do have information or footage which could assist us, please get in touch so that we can provide Gino's family with the answers they deserve."
