Jessie J Shares Mastectomy Video One Year After Surgery

Jessie J has shared a hospital video marking one year since her mastectomy, revealing the operation 'changed me forever'. The singer underwent the procedure in June 2025 after receiving an early-stage breast cancer diagnosis.

In the video, Jessie is seen lying in a hospital bed wearing a patient gown. When someone offscreen asked if she was okay, she looked down at her chest and said: 'Ok girls, time to shine.' Turning to the camera, she added, 'My nipples are like this', making a face with wide eyes and a strained neck.

Light-Hearted Reflection on Medication

In the caption, Jessie made light of the medication she was on after the operation: 'A year ago today I was off my tits (literally)!! I had a right side single mastectomy and it's mad how I didn't look that rough.' She continued: 'Ok girl, time to shine. 12.6.25 changed me forever. Thank you Dr Gui. You are forever a hero to me.'

Diagnosis and Surgery Announcement

Jessie J was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2025 and revealed the news at the same time as announcing she would have the operation. 'Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding on to the word early,' she told fans in a video message. 'It's a very dramatic way to get a boob job.'

She added: 'I am going to disappear for a bit after Summertime Ball to have my surgery, and I will come back with massive tits and more music. I just wanted to be open and share it. One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I'm not processing it because I'm working so hard.'

Emotional Support from Fans

'I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I'm an open book. It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse - that's the bit that kills me.' She added: 'Honestly I need to process it and talk about it and, I need a hug. You have loved me through all my good and hard times. And I don't want this to be any different.'

Cancer-Free Update

A month after surgery, Jessie told fans she was crying 'happy tears' as tests showed her cancer had not spread. She thanked fans for their 'prayers' and 'love'. The news was shared via a video starting with a clip taken before surgery in which her son said: 'Mummy's gonna be ok.' She then added: 'And... I am ok.'
