Greater Manchester Police have issued an update after five men were arrested following an outbreak of violence in Manchester city centre. Officers were called to Parker Street, near Piccadilly Gardens bus station, at around 5.30am on Tuesday morning (June 16).
Incident Details
Police were alerted to the scene by paramedics. Two men were found with cuts to their hands, which were not deemed life-threatening or life-changing. A cordon was established in nearby Chinatown as part of the investigation, with a forensic tent observed at the corner of Nicholas Street and George Street.
Arrests and Bail
Five men, aged between 18 and 37, were arrested on suspicion of affray. In an update issued on Wednesday afternoon, GMP confirmed that three of the suspects have been released on bail. The other two remain in custody for police interview. It is understood that these two are the men who sustained injuries during the incident.
Ongoing Investigation
Crime scene investigators were seen gathering evidence from the Chinatown cordon on Tuesday. A GMP spokesperson previously stated: "Officers are continuing with their investigation to understand the circumstances which have led to this incident."
