Mason Greenwood has reportedly reached an agreement to join Roma on a permanent transfer this summer. The 24-year-old former Manchester United winger scored 26 goals and provided 11 assists in 45 appearances for Marseille last season. With Marseille experiencing ongoing turmoil and failing to qualify for European competition, Greenwood is keen to move to Serie A. Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport claims personal terms have been settled between Roma and the player, who will work under Gian Piero Gasperini later this year. Roma have identified Greenwood as a priority signing for the upcoming season.
Greenwood's Contract Details
Greenwood's wages are reportedly set to start at £3.9 million per year plus bonuses, with gradual increases in subsequent years. Several bonus clauses are considered easily achievable, with the attacker expected to meet various performance-related targets. His former club Manchester United will receive 40% of any profit from the transfer fee, thanks to a substantial sell-on clause included in his £26 million move to Marseille in 2024.
Roma Also Chase Summerville
The Greenwood deal is not the only Roma transfer that could affect Manchester United. Roma are also looking to strengthen their left-wing options and are reportedly monitoring Crysencio Summerville. The West Ham winger has attracted interest from several clubs, including Manchester United, following his outstanding performances. West Ham's recent relegation means Summerville, who is currently playing for the Netherlands at the World Cup, could be available for around £50 million.
Roma's interest could complicate United's pursuit of the 24-year-old, potentially driving up his valuation amid his impressive World Cup displays. According to The Athletic, United are among several clubs tracking Summerville and have already made an initial approach to West Ham to gauge his availability. Summerville, under contract at the London Stadium until June 2029, is considered one of West Ham's most valuable assets after their relegation and could be sold. His versatility across the front line makes him an attractive option for United if they seek a winger this summer, though strengthening midfield remains their primary goal. West Ham teammate Mateus Fernandes is also believed to be high on United's list of targets.
