Five individuals faced justice at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday for their involvement in the Ely riots, as the sentencing hearing entered its sixth day. A total of 30 people are being sentenced over two weeks for their participation in the disorder. Here are the key moments from day six of the proceedings.

Central and Leading Role

Cameron Carter, 20, of Ely, was described as playing a central and leading role in the riot. The court heard that he threw various items at police officers, including a baby chair, a TV monitor, and a metal drain cover.

Leading Role with Fire

Matthew Evans, 22, also of Ely, was identified as a leading participant. He threw stones and large missiles, including a burning bed frame, at officers. Additionally, he set fire to a red car using an aerosol can as a flamethrower.

Gathering Missiles

Jordan Bratcher, 27, of Llanishen, was among those seen entering a garden to collect stones and gravel, which were subsequently thrown at police.

Expressing Intent to Harm

James Chappell, 31, of Barry, drove his partner and three daughters to his father's home in Ely before attending the riot scene. He was heard saying "I hope cops get hurt" and then threw missiles at police.

First to Gather Stones

Zayne Farrugia, 26, of Caerau, was one of the first to enter a garden on Stanway Road to obtain stones for throwing at police. He placed stones in his pocket and threw them at officers as he retreated up the road during a police surge.
