Wythenshawe Stabbing Victim Named as Drew McCormick

A man fatally stabbed in Northern Moor, Wythenshawe, has been named as Drew McCormick. Police were called to Southwick Road at around 8.30pm on Thursday, February 5, following reports of a serious assault. Officers found the 20-year-old with injuries consistent with a stabbing, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) believe the suspect and victim were known to each other and that there is no wider risk to the community. The incident is believed to have followed a dispute.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Higginson, from GMP's Major Incident Team, said: 'Firstly, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family of the deceased during this incredibly difficult time. We are continuing to establish the full facts of this incident, but we believe both the suspect and the victim were known to each other.'
