Resorts World Birmingham, a 12-storey complex on the edge of the M42, aims to attract visitors seeking a self-contained holiday experience. Located at the NEC complex in Solihull, the resort is bordered by the motorway, Birmingham Airport, and the Chelmsley Wood housing estate. Despite its unglamorous surroundings, the Genting Group hopes to make the resort itself the destination.
The complex features an Asian-themed spa, an Australasian restaurant, and a New York-themed bar, designed to transport guests away from the local environment. The International Casino offers over 100 slot machines, roulette, poker, blackjack, and baccarat, with a 100-seat sports bar open 24 hours a day. A drinks menu includes cocktails 'for the ladies,' such as the Genting Spring Punch.
The Genting Hotel provides rooms with Smart TVs, coffee machines, and ironing boards, while five-star suites offer panoramic lakeside views. An Asian-themed spa with a private entrance for hotel guests is set to open soon. The ground floor houses over 50 outlet stores, including Nike, Holland & Barrett, and Thornton's, alongside 18 bars and restaurants.
Genting, which operates over 40 casinos in the UK and resorts worldwide, believes the resort's all-in-one concept will make it a holiday destination. If successful, the centre of England could become a new hotspot for mini-breaks.
