A man and a woman have been charged with the murder of a 21-month-old boy in Leicester. Omiel Gordon, 35, and Shalom Morgan, 23, are accused of killing Tobias-John Doyle, who died in hospital in December 2023.
Police were called to an address on Mulberry Avenue, Braunstone Frith, on November 29, 2023, following an incident. Tobias was taken to hospital but died on December 2. The pair were initially arrested in November 2023 and have now been charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and child cruelty.
Gordon, of Butterwick Drive, Beaumont Leys, and Morgan, of Morledge Street, Leicester city centre, are due to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court. Leicestershire Police said a complex investigation has been carried out, with family liaison officers supporting the boy's father.
Detective Inspector Kevin Hames, the senior investigating officer, said: 'My thoughts very much remain with Tobias and everyone who is affected by his extremely sad death.' He urged the public not to speculate on the case to avoid prejudicing court proceedings.
Local officers will increase patrols in the affected areas to offer reassurance to the community.
