Thousands of UFO Sightings Reported Over US Nuclear Sites, Report Reveals
UFOs Reported Over US Nuclear Sites in Thousands of Cases

A startling new report has uncovered that America's most sensitive nuclear installations have been the subject of thousands of unidentified flying object sightings over the past eight decades. The crowdsourced platform Enigma disclosed to the Daily Mail that there have been more than 2,800 'unidentified aerial sightings' documented within 25 miles of 90 US nuclear power plants or nuclear weapons facilities.

Patterns and Descriptions of Aerial Phenomena

The comprehensive report details numerous accounts of objects frequently described as glowing orbs, disks, spheres, cylinders, or triangles. These unidentified craft were often observed hovering or executing precise flight patterns in close proximity to these critical national security sites. More than 70 specific reports referenced UFOs with metallic or reflective surfaces flying over military bases during early dawn hours in broad daylight.

Recent and Historical Incidents Documented

One of the most recent incidents occurred in April 2025, when video footage captured a glowing orange ball altering its shape while flying over Bear, Delaware. This location is situated near both the Salem Nuclear Power Plant and the Hope Creek Nuclear Generating Station in New Jersey. The witness described the object as continuously changing size and shape, stating it was neither a drone nor mechanical in nature.

Another account from April 2023 in California described an object hovering before arching sideways and disappearing instantaneously, with the witness expressing a belief it was observing the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant. The report also highlights the mysterious drone surge over the East Coast between November 2024 and February 2025, during which similar structured, light-emitting objects were reported.

National Security Implications and Concerns

Enigma researchers have raised significant concerns about how these objects have repeatedly violated restricted airspace around America's most sensitive installations. The report notes that over 1,800 UFO sightings have occurred near US nuclear power plants, while more than 1,000 additional sightings have been documented at military nuclear weapons sites.

'If these objects belong to foreign intelligence or advanced programs, they expose vulnerabilities in national defense,' Enigma researchers stated. 'If they are something unknown to science, they may represent new physics or technology. Either possibility demands improved detection, data sharing, and protective measures.'

Historical Context and Global Parallels

The phenomenon extends back to the dawn of the US nuclear program in the late 1940s, with reports of 'bright green fireballs' near Kirtland and Sandia Air Force Bases in New Mexico. One particularly notable incident occurred in 1967 at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana, where several Minuteman missiles were reportedly disabled during alleged UFO encounters.

Researchers also detailed how witnesses claimed to observe UFOs during two major international nuclear disasters: the 1986 reactor meltdown in Chernobyl, Ukraine, and the 2011 accident in Fukushima, Japan. In Chernobyl, a bright cylindrical object was reportedly seen hovering near the burning remnants of Reactor 4, while similar glowing objects were allegedly observed flying over the damaged Japanese reactor.

Analysis of Witness Accounts and Characteristics

Enigma Labs has collected extensive data from eyewitnesses including civilians, pilots, and military personnel. Approximately half of all sightings described objects capable of hovering or floating through the air, while one-third mentioned the craft suddenly disappearing or vanishing into thin air. The report specifically notes that nuclear sites and missile bases in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Florida experienced the highest concentrations of sightings.

Despite the Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office being tasked with investigating UFO reports, the military maintains there has never been any physical evidence proving the existence of extraterrestrials or unidentified flying objects. Nevertheless, the sheer volume of consistent reports spanning decades continues to fuel both public interest and official concern about what these phenomena represent and how they repeatedly penetrate America's most secure airspace.
