Texas Man Captured After AMBER Alert for Murder and Kidnapping

A Texas man accused of fatally stabbing his mother and kidnapping his young nephew was captured within hours after an AMBER Alert launched a massive multi-state manhunt. Raymond Isaac Carmona, 20, faces charges of murder, aggravated kidnapping, and theft of property following the violent incident in Mansfield.

Discovery of the Crime Scene

Mansfield police were called to a home on Cotton Drive just before 9 a.m. on January 31 after a family member found 63-year-old Andrea Colgrove unresponsive on the floor. She was pronounced dead at the scene, with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner later determining she died from a stab wound to the neck, ruling her death a homicide.

Immediate Investigation and AMBER Alert

During the initial investigation, officers learned that Colgrove had legal guardianship of her four-year-old grandson, who was missing from the home along with her tan 2009 Toyota Corolla. Police identified Colgrove's son, Carmona, as a suspect in both the homicide and the child's disappearance.

The child was immediately entered into state and national databases as a critical missing person, and an AMBER Alert was issued. The vehicle was also entered into law enforcement databases as stolen, prompting a widespread search.

Swift Capture and Recovery

Just minutes after the AMBER Alert was broadcast, Missouri authorities located the Toyota Corolla with Carmona and the child inside. Carmona was taken into custody that afternoon, and the child was safely recovered, later released into the care of Child Protective Services.

Confession and Legal Proceedings

In an interview with police, Carmona admitted to his involvement in his mother's death, according to reports. He was indicted by a grand jury on February 6 on charges of murder, aggravated kidnapping, and theft of property (motor vehicle).

Carmona remains at the Tarrant County Jail on a combined bond of $1,007,500 and is scheduled to be in court on February 23.

Law Enforcement Collaboration Praised

Mansfield police credited Missouri and Arkansas Highway Patrol officers for their assistance in locating the child and arresting Carmona. In a statement, they said, "This case is a powerful example of law enforcement professionals across state lines working together to protect our communities and diligently serve victims of crime."

The rapid response and coordination between agencies underscored the effectiveness of AMBER Alerts in mobilizing resources to resolve critical situations involving child abductions and violent crimes.
