A tragic car crash in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, has claimed the lives of a mother and daughter, with police arresting a 22-year-old man on suspicion of multiple driving offences. The incident occurred on White Hill, near Mount Vernon Hospital, just before 3pm on March 24, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
Fatal Collision Details
Emergency services, including fire crews, ambulance teams, and an air ambulance, rushed to the scene where a silver Kia Picanto and a grey BMW were involved in a serious collision. The passenger of the Kia, a woman in her 90s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her daughter, a woman in her 60s, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries but sadly passed away on Wednesday night.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Police arrested a 22-year-old man from Watford at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving over the specified drug limit, and possession of cannabis. He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries as the investigation continues.
Detective Constable Dale Morris, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit, expressed his condolences, stating: 'This is a devastating loss of a mother and daughter, and my thoughts are with their loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.' He added, 'Our enquiries are ongoing as we continue to establish the full circumstances of the collision.'

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or may have dashcam footage to come forward to assist with the investigation. The next of kin of the victims are being supported by specialist police officers during this tragic period.
