A millionaire big-game hunter has died after being trampled by a herd of elephants during a hunting expedition in Gabon, central Africa. Ernie Dosio, 75, an American vineyard owner, was searching for a rare yellow-backed duiker antelope in the Lope-Okanda forest when the incident occurred.
Details of the Incident
The attack, which reportedly took place on 17 April, involved a herd of five elephants that emerged and crushed Mr Dosio. A professional hunter accompanying him was also seriously injured. The group was on a trophy hunting expedition when the fatal encounter happened.
Background of the Hunter
Mr Dosio had amassed a large collection of animal trophies over his lifetime, including rhinos, elephants, and lions. His death has once again brought attention to the controversial practice of trophy hunting, which campaign groups argue raises serious animal welfare and environmental concerns.
