Noah Donohoe Inquest Jury Selection Begins in Belfast
Jury Selection Under Way for Noah Donohoe Inquest

The process of selecting a jury has begun at Belfast Coroner's Court ahead of the full inquest into the death of 14-year-old Noah Donohoe.

Court Proceedings Commence

The inquest is scheduled to start in full later this week, with Mr Justice Rooney presiding over the proceedings. On Monday, Noah's mother, Fiona Donohoe, arrived at the court around midday. She was accompanied by two family members and her solicitor, Niall Murphy. The selection of the jury is expected to continue on Wednesday.

The Tragic Disappearance

Noah Donohoe went missing in June 2020 while cycling to meet friends in Belfast. A major six-day search operation, involving hundreds of local people, was launched before his body was discovered in a storm drain. Police believe he entered the drainage system in the Northwood Road area of north Belfast.

Prior to his disappearance, the St Malachy's College student was seen falling from his bicycle on the Shore Road. Shortly afterwards, witnesses reported seeing him without any clothes on. He had cycled to the area from his family home in south Belfast.

A Family's Search for Answers

The unexplained nature of the teenager's death has generated significant public interest and concern. Fiona Donohoe has led a persistent campaign seeking truth and clarity about the circumstances surrounding her son's tragic death. She hopes the coroner's inquest will provide answers to the many unresolved questions she has raised.

North Belfast MP John Finucane expressed his solidarity with the Donohoe family as the inquest gets under way. In a statement posted on X, he said: "The Donohoe family have campaigned bravely and tirelessly in their search for truth around Noah’s disappearance and death. They deserve no less. I hope this process delivers the truth & justice they deserve."
