Kentucky father accused of murdering wife and concealing body in horrific family crime
A Kentucky father stands accused of murdering his wife and leaving her body on the kitchen floor for three days while telling their confused children their mother was merely sleeping, according to disturbing new court testimony and police reports from Warren County.
Gruesome discovery after vehicle fire
Authorities discovered the remains of Jasmina Aljic after responding to a vehicle fire in Kentucky, but subsequent investigation revealed she had died before the car was set ablaze. Medical examination showed no soot in her lungs, indicating she was deceased prior to the attempted destruction of evidence through fire.
Police allege that 31-year-old Salko Husejnovic attacked and killed his wife three days before her body was ultimately found. During this period, the father reportedly told his children that their mother was simply sleeping as her body remained on the kitchen floor of their family home.
Alleged accomplice and evidence tampering
Husejnovic allegedly enlisted the help of 44-year-old Shelly Boyd, who had been dating his brother, in his attempt to conceal the crime. Boyd reportedly witnessed the attack but took no action to stop it, and is accused of purchasing the gasoline used to torch the vehicle containing Aljic's body.
Both individuals now face serious charges including tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse, with Husejnovic additionally charged with murder. Court documents reveal the victim had a protective order against Husejnovic at the time of her death.
Investigation reveals disturbing details
When detectives visited Husejnovic's home following the discovery of Aljic's body, Boyd reportedly answered the door and claimed Husejnovic was not present. Police later determined he was hiding inside the residence and eventually emerged voluntarily.
During a search of the property, investigators made several crucial discoveries including a bag of clothing hidden in a kitchen cabinet. Surveillance footage allegedly shows Boyd wearing identical clothing when she and Husejnovic were attempting to dispose of the vehicle. Authorities also found three bloodstained pillows in the washing machine.
Conflicting accounts between accused
As the investigation progressed, Boyd and Husejnovic reportedly began blaming each other for the horrific events. Boyd eventually admitted to detectives that she witnessed Husejnovic beating his wife and confirmed the body remained on the kitchen floor for three days.
According to her statement, Husejnovic initially planned to push the car containing his wife's body down a cliff, but when this failed, he resorted to setting the vehicle on fire.
Husejnovic later allegedly admitted to hitting his wife during an argument, claiming she stopped breathing afterward. He reportedly stated it was Boyd's idea not to call emergency services and to leave the body in the kitchen.
Ongoing investigation and legal proceedings
Authorities continue to work on determining the exact cause of Aljic's death as the investigation remains active. Husejnovic is currently being held in the Warren County Jail awaiting further legal proceedings.
The case has shocked the local community and highlights the devastating consequences of domestic violence, particularly when children become unwilling witnesses to such traumatic events within their own family home.
