Local residents provided harrowing details of the morning's events. William Ramsay, who lives in the area, reported that the armed individual had entered the stairwell of his building after allegedly smashing a local shop and possibly stabbing two people.
Another witness, Abigail Clegg, described how the man had attempted to gain entry to a school and nursery before being chased away. She recounted how he then proceeded to ransack a shop, creating significant damage, and chased employees while brandishing a knife.
Mary Todd, a resident of Cobbinshaw House, reported hearing the man shouting before she and her daughter evacuated the building through a rear exit for their safety.
