Fifth Suspect Arrested in Murder of Teenage Girl Chloe Watson Dransfield

A fifth individual has been taken into custody on suspicion of murdering a 16-year-old girl, whose family has described her as their "beautiful princess". Chloe Watson Dransfield, from Gomersal, tragically passed away in hospital on Saturday, March 28, after being discovered unconscious with stab wounds in Kennerleigh Avenue, Austhorpe, at approximately 6am that morning.

Ongoing Police Investigation and Arrests

West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that detectives are currently questioning a 17-year-old boy, who remains in custody alongside four other suspects previously arrested on suspicion of murder. These include two women aged 18, a man aged 19, and another boy aged 17, all of whom are from Leeds. The investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle from the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.

In a statement, DCI Entwistle expressed that "our thoughts remain with Chloe’s family at this incredibly difficult time", adding that specially-trained officers are providing ongoing support. He emphasised that the investigation is active, with all five suspects detained as authorities work to piece together the full circumstances of this tragic incident.

Chloe's family released a poignant statement and photograph, mourning the loss of their beloved daughter and sister. They described her as stunning, confident, loyal, honest, and family-oriented, with a bubbly personality that lit up any room. Her mother wrote, "I cannot put into words how I feel that you are not here with me. You are my life, my world, my best friend... There’s a big hole in my heart that can never be filled."

Her father added, "Our family is utterly devastated by the loss of Chloe. She was beautiful, full of joy, and had a wonderfully cheeky personality. She embraced life with such happiness, and she had her whole future ahead of her." The family affirmed that Chloe will always be remembered and loved by everyone who knew her, leaving an immeasurable void in their lives.
