Mother Slams Police After Son, 13, Knocked Off E-Bike by Unmarked Car

The mother of a 13-year-old boy who was knocked off his e-bike by an unmarked police car in Salford has criticised Greater Manchester Police (GMP) over the incident. CCTV footage shows Junior Moran being hit by the vehicle and thrown over the bonnet onto the pavement on Hilton Lane in Little Hulton on Tuesday, January 13.

Junior was riding home from MMA training when he was approached by plainclothes officers. The footage shows him stopping, then attempting to ride away before the unmarked car drives at him. He can be heard pleading, 'I've not done nowt,' and was released minutes later. His mother, Jayne, said he was left 'stumbling and dizzy' and has been 'traumatised' by the experience.

GMP stated that the e-bike was illegal and that 'tactical contact' was used to detain the teenager. The force's Professional Standards Directorate is reviewing the incident, and the driving officer's authority has been withdrawn pending investigation. A superintendent later visited Junior in hospital and issued an apology.

Jayne, who has made a formal complaint, said her son did not know the men were police officers and thought he was being robbed. 'He had done nothing wrong,' she said. 'He's only a child. He didn't have a balaclava or a hat on, he wasn't acting suspiciously.'
