The family of a woman whose death is being treated as murder have paid a moving tribute to her after police confirmed her identity. Gloria De Lazzari, 45, was found dead at a flat in Bolton at around 10am on Monday, January 19. Officers discovered the Italian national at a property on Kempton Gardens, near Halliwell Road, following a concern for welfare report.
In an emotional tribute, Gloria's mother said: "She was a fantastic person and a devoted daughter. I always looked forward to her visits to me in Italy, where we loved spending time together outdoors and going on long walks. She was deeply family oriented and always made an effort with me. She will be missed beyond words."
Greater Manchester Police released a tribute from Gloria's ex-husband, in which he described her as "a great lady with a pure soul and a gentle, compassionate heart." He added: "She was always available to help others and never held a bad thought for anyone. Her kindness, humility, and selflessness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her."
James Morton, 33, of Kempton Gardens, Bolton, has been charged with Gloria's murder. He was remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court. Detective Inspector Louise Kelly of GMP's Major Incident Team said: "This is an incident where a woman has lost her life in truly tragic circumstances. Our investigation is progressing, but we are still appealing to anyone with any information to come forward."
