Witnesses reported hearing police shout 'drop the gun' on Hazel Hawkes Avenue, according to The Canberra Times. Photos and video from residents showed a heavily armed police presence, with officers drawing weapons and multiple police vehicles and fire trucks at the scene.

A 39-year-old man was taken into custody, and police confirmed there is 'no ongoing threat to the community'. An ACT Policing spokesperson stated that roadblocks remain in place while enquiries continue, and thanked the public for their patience.
