Traitors star Sam Little has revealed he has been the victim of a heartbreaking scam that saw him lose his life savings.
The BBC star, who appeared on the 2026 season of Claudia Winkleman's game show, took to TikTok on Tuesday evening (June 16) to share the emotional impact of the gut-wrenching experience. Scammers targeted him and stole £40,000 from his bank account.
The Scam Unfolds
The Account Manager from North Yorkshire appeared visibly emotional as he explained it was a cryptocurrency account. Admitting why he did not share his story earlier, he said: "There's a lot of shame, there's embarrassment, there's disappointment, there's general privacy." But he continued: "The more I thought about it, the more selfish I thought it was not to share this."
Speaking to the camera, he recalled: "I sat on the sofa with my wife watching TV, and I get a text notification from a verified banking number. It wasn't incessant. Maybe once or twice over the previous three days they said there's been an attempt, someone trying to get into your account. They said, if you would like to speak to us about this, call this number, UK number. So I called it, got through to them, unsurprisingly very helpful, very knowledgeable."
He added that the fraudsters were able to dupe him with a dummy account that was a duplicate of his own, and he didn't have to enter any passwords or codes. He continued: "Then they started to use fear tactics around we need to act quickly on this before anyone else might get into the account. I had several different investments across the accounts and lost all of them. They took me through one by one. They said we need all of this for our insurance case."
The Sickening Moment
Sam revealed the moment he became suspicious after he spoke to his wife about the situation. He recalled: "There was the most sickening moment when Alex, my wife, came in and she'd Googled the number that I'd rang and it just said red flag UK phishing number scam, do not call. My heart and everything just fell through the floor. By that point, it was too late. They'd emptied everything. They quickly hung up. I tried to ring back, couldn't get through. And then, panic just sets in. I'm talking like this was £40,000. This was like life savings. God, it's even difficult thinking about it now, because it's emotional. You create emotional attachments to this. My wife's self-employed, this was like baby fund. You work for, you work hard, you work for years to build this up, and it's gone like in an instant."
The BBC star explained that he had phoned the police and that there was an ongoing investigation into the situation.
Support from Followers
Sam's followers rallied around him as they sent their support. One wrote: "40k????? I'd cry blood omg so sorry about this! Terrible!" Another replied: "I pray a miracle comes through for you." A third wrote: "Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry this happened to you." Someone else questioned: "Is cryptocurrency protected against scammers or fraud? I know that if you're scammed on like a bank or savings account they will give you it back, were you able to get your money back or was it completely gone?" Sam replied: "Sadly not."
Awareness Campaign
Sam stated that over this year alone in the UK, around two million people have reported fraud causes. He wanted his video to raise some 'awareness' and stop someone else from making the same mistake as him.
