Oak Flats Man Charged in Domestic Kidnapping and Assault

A man has been accused of a series of horrific domestic violence attacks, including kidnapping, chaining, and sexually assaulting his partner within their home in Oak Flats, located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales.

Alleged Incidents and Charges

The 34-year-old man has been charged with more than 10 offences following alleged incidents that occurred between July and August 2025. Police report that on August 5, he kidnapped and detained his 32-year-old partner by chaining her up inside their residence.

Details of the Assaults

It is alleged that the man sexually assaulted the woman amid what authorities describe as 'ongoing physical assaults'. During these attacks, he reportedly threw a pair of scissors and a meat tenderiser at her, leading to severe injuries.

The victim was treated at Shellharbour Hospital for multiple fractures, including to her eye socket and ribs, highlighting the brutality of the alleged assaults.

Arrest and Legal Proceedings

The man was arrested at the Oak Flats home the day after the alleged kidnapping and initially charged with five offences, such as domestic violence-related assault and kidnapping. He was refused bail at that time.

Following further legal advice, additional charges were brought against him, bringing the total to over 10 offences. These new charges include coercive control, sexual intercourse without consent (domestic violence-related), common assault (domestic violence-related), two counts of intentionally choking a person with recklessness, assault occasioning actual bodily harm (domestic violence-related), and intentionally engaging in abusive behaviour to coerce or control an intimate partner (domestic violence-related).

Court Appearance

The accused is scheduled to appear before Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday, where the legal process will continue to unfold as authorities seek justice in this disturbing case.
