Kate Mansi has confirmed she is leaving her role as Kristina Davis on the long-running soap opera General Hospital after three years. The 38-year-old Daytime Emmy-winning actor took over the part in 2023, playing the daughter of mob boss Sonny Corinthos and attorney Alexis Davis.
The character of Kristina was first introduced in 2002, portrayed by several child actors before being rapidly aged in 2009, with Lexi Ainsworth assuming the role. Ainsworth departed in 2011, and the character was reintroduced the following year with Lindsey Morgan, before Ainsworth returned in 2015 and continued until 2023, when Mansi took over.
In a statement to TV Insider, Mansi described the decision to leave as "very difficult," citing new projects requiring her full attention and the need for flexibility to travel while her husband, producer Matt McInnis, works on a series filming primarily abroad. She expressed gratitude to ABC, executive producer Frank Valentini, and the show's writers for "the care they gave Kristina."
The news has prompted an outpouring from fans, with many taking to Instagram to express their disappointment. One wrote: "You will be very missed on that show. Very heartbreaking," while another said: "Super sad to hear you're leaving GH. You were one of my favorites." Others praised her on-screen chemistry with sister Molly, with one fan calling the exit a "bummer."
Before joining General Hospital, Mansi starred as Abigail Deveraux on Days of Our Lives from 2011 to 2020, earning a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2018. Her earlier credits include an episode of How I Met Your Mother in 2008, various television films, and a five-episode stint in the drama Casa Grande in 2023.
