Miracle Survival After 110-Foot Cliff Plunge
In a harrowing case of betrayal, a pregnant woman miraculously survived being pushed from a 110-foot cliff in Thailand by her own husband. The incident, which occurred on 9 June 2019 at the Pha Taem National Park in Ubon Ratchathani province, left Wang Nan with severe injuries but marked only the beginning of her ordeal.
A Calculated Plot and a Shocking Arrest
Initially, Wang told rescuers she had fainted and fallen. However, Thai police grew suspicious. Officer Charnchai Innara noted that the husband, Yu Xiaodong, stood at a distance as his wife received aid. An investigation revealed Yu was drowning in debt and had asked Wang, who owned all their assets, to clear it. She had agreed to pay only half. It was later alleged he pushed her to inherit her fortune of 100 million baht (£2.5 million).
Wang later confided in officers, stating she had been threatened by Yu not to speak out. An interpreter even overheard her ask him in hospital, "Why did you do that to me?" Yu was arrested on suspicion of murder. Following a trial, he was sentenced in June 2023 to 33 years and four months in a Thai prison.
From Prison to a Multi-Million Pound Demand
In a shocking twist, while incarcerated, Yu made an unbelievable demand. He sought a divorce from Wang and demanded over £3 million (30 million yuan) as compensation for his "emotional and youth loss." Wang, who also goes by Wang Nuannuan online, revealed this in a live-stream, adding that Yu's mother blamed her business success for tempting her son.
Despite the trauma, Wang has shown incredible resilience. She subsequently welcomed a child via IVF and was finally granted a divorce in September. She expressed her relief on social media, calling it a "perfect day" after years of hardship.
