A 44-year-old millionaire banker was arrested at his £1.4 million west London home on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with the infamous 'Putney Pusher' case, after police spoke to his former partner, according to the Times.
Arrest and Bail
The Metropolitan Police acted on a tip-off, leading them to interview the man's ex-partner. On Monday, officers arrested the banker at his home. He was later re-arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A and Class B drugs and has been bailed until September.
The 2017 Incident
The shocking incident occurred on Putney Bridge at around 7.40am on May 5, 2017, and was captured on CCTV. A 33-year-old woman was shoved into a busy lane by a man believed to be a stranger as he ran past. She avoided serious injury thanks to the quick reflexes of a bus driver who swerved to avoid her.
Ongoing Investigation
Lawyers have noted that the 'Putney Pusher' may turn out to be a different person than the arrested banker. If caught, the perpetrator could face charges other than grievous bodily harm once more details emerge about motives and actions. The police investigation is in its early stages, but this development is understood to be a 'significant line of inquiry.'
