Man Charged with Murder of Headteacher in Cycling Crash

A man has been charged with the murder of a grammar school headteacher who was killed in a crash while cycling. Simon Richardson, 35, has also been charged with failing to stop at the scene of the collision that claimed the life of Michael Mullins, 56.

Incident Details

Police were called to reports of a collision involving Mr Mullins and a car on Paddock Lane in Altrincham, Greater Manchester, at approximately 6:10pm on Monday. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, Mr Mullins, from Weaverham, Northwich, died at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Arrests and Charges

Officers initially arrested three men and one woman in connection with the incident, which is understood to have taken place as Mr Mullins was on his way home. Following further investigation, Simon Richardson was charged with murder and failing to stop at the scene. The other individuals have been released under investigation.
