World-class adventure company Zip World has completed a £250,000 refurbishment of its Tyn-y-Coed Hotel in Capel Curig, as part of a wider investment aimed at encouraging visitors to extend their stays in North Wales. The upgraded hotel, situated at the foot of Moel Siabod near Betws-y-Coed, serves as a base for exploring Eryri National Park and several of Zip World's adventure sites, including Betws-y-Coed, Llechwedd and Penrhyn Quarry.
Refurbishment Details
The recent upgrades focus on guest rooms and facilities for outdoor enthusiasts. New beds have been installed throughout the hotel, with room layouts now configurable as twin, king, or super-king options. Additional storage, drying racks, and boot trays have been added for walkers and outdoor lovers. Design updates draw inspiration from the Welsh landscape, with new artwork introduced across bedrooms and corridors. The hotel has also incorporated fabrics produced in Wales using wool from family-run mill Melin Tregwynt.
Additional Amenities
Other additions include coffee machines, radios, and larger televisions in guest rooms. Corridors have undergone a full refurbishment, while two new ground-floor rooms have been created, including a fully accessible room and an additional accessible space. The latest works follow investment in the property's restaurant, pub and ground-floor areas completed last year.
Location and Attractions
Along with attractions, the upgraded hotel is located a short drive from some of the national park's most popular peaks, including Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), as well as hiking trails, waterfalls, and forests. The outdoor adventure operator is renowned for transforming Wales' post-industrial mining heritage sites into thrilling attractions, including the zip wire 'Velocity 2', where riders fly headfirst 'Superman-style' over a blue quarry lake, reaching speeds of over 100 mph. It also operates mountain karting, 'Bounce Below', a neon-lit subterranean trampoline park and Fforest Coaster, the UK's longest alpine toboggan coaster.
