Missing US Tourist Found Safe After Eight-Day Search in Caribbean

An American woman who went missing from a cruise excursion in the Caribbean has been found safe after an eight-day search, authorities confirmed on Friday.

Ann Evans, 55, was reported missing after she failed to return to the Holland America Line cruise ship docked in Philipsburg, Sint Maarten, on November 20. The Police Force of Sint Maarten said that through coordination with partners, contact was made with the individual, but no further details would be released due to privacy laws.

Evans had disembarked the ship and taken a bus to Marigot, French Saint Martin, but did not return to the bus or the ship. Police discovered that she had used her passport to check into a hotel on the French side of the island and had been seen in the surrounding area.

The cruise ship, which departed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on November 16, visited several Caribbean destinations before the incident. It was scheduled to return to Florida on November 28. Police have urged Evans to contact her family to confirm her safety.

Holland America Line stated that they notified local authorities immediately and were working closely with them to confirm the guest's whereabouts.
