A flight attendant has sparked debate after sharing a no-nonsense response to passengers who ask to swap seats on planes. The cabin crew member, known as Ms Attendant Tea on TikTok, explained that refusing such requests is not about being 'mean' but about safety and logistics.
In her video, she said: 'Crew wants to know why is it a problem if the flight attendant tells you no, you cannot move your seat? What is wrong with sitting on the seat that you are assigned on your boarding pass?' She added that passengers could have selected seats when booking, even if it cost extra, or sorted it at the gate.
The flight attendant highlighted that aircraft weight and balance calculations are based on assigned seating. 'When you get to me on the plane, every weight has been accounted for. All the calculations have been done,' she said. Unauthorised moves can affect weight distribution and even cause delays.
She also noted that cabin crew rely on seating plans to distribute meals, beverages, and specialist services. Changing seats can cause confusion and hinder efficiency. While some may view her response as 'savage', she insisted there are valid reasons behind the policy.
The issue has previously sparked debate, with another passenger revealing what happened when a pregnant woman asked to swap seats mid-flight. Ms Attendant Tea's comments have reignited discussion about the dos and don'ts of air travel.
