Chile
Chile is offering equity-free grants of up to £74,000 to technology-focused start-ups willing to set up operations in the country. The initiative is open to all nationalities and provides a two-year work visa, networking opportunities, office space, mentorship, and entrepreneurial support.
Albinen, Switzerland
The Alpine village of Albinen has been enticing new residents since 2018 with financial packages: adults receive up to 25,000 Swiss francs (£23,600), and children up to 10,000 Swiss francs (£9,400). A family of three could receive 70,000 Swiss francs (£66,100). Applicants must be under 45, commit to living in Albinen for at least ten years, purchase or build a property worth at least 200,000 Swiss francs, and hold Swiss citizenship or a C Residence Permit.
Italy
Sambuca di Sicilia
This Sicilian village of 6,000 residents offers properties for €1, provided buyers renovate the run-down homes within three years. Renovation costs are estimated at €15,000 (£12,955), plus a €5,000 (£4,318) security deposit refundable upon completion.
Candela
With around 2,700 residents, Candela offers financial incentives of €800 (£690) for individuals and €2,000 (£1,727) for families. Requirements include relocating your primary home, securing employment, and buying a property built before 1991.
Ponga Villages, Spain
Young couples planning to start a family can receive €3,000 (£2,591) for moving to a Ponga community and residing there for five years. An additional €3,000 is offered per child. The area has fewer than 1,000 residents and a declining population.
Denmark
Start-up Denmark is a programme for international entrepreneurs, granting residency permits to establish innovative ventures. It also allows continuation of self-employed businesses launched under other residency arrangements. Eligibility extends to individuals and teams of up to three members with a shared business proposal.
Mauritius
This idyllic island offers 20,000 Mauritian Rupees (£313) to start-ups relocating there. Candidates must present an innovative and commercially sound business plan to a panel for approval.
Thailand, South Korea, and Vietnam
These countries offer relocation schemes targeting European and American nationals, providing teaching positions for English and other subjects. Programmes vary by employer and location, so it is advisable to research current openings.
Ireland
Enterprise Ireland supports high-potential start-ups with funding and tax relief.
