As the summer holidays approach, UK holidaymakers are being advised to adopt a '3-2-1' packing method to avoid hefty baggage fees. With airlines increasing charges for checked luggage, packing efficiently can save significant money.
Natasha Inglis, client success director at Good Business Travel, suggests laying out all intended items before packing to identify duplicates and unnecessary items. 'If it's a maybe, it doesn't make it into the case,' she advises.
For short breaks, Inglis recommends the '3-2-1' method: three tops, two bottoms, and one outer layer that all coordinate. This allows multiple outfits without overpacking, making carry-on luggage feasible.
Maximising space is key: stuff shoes with socks, underwear, or chargers, and use packing cubes to compress clothes. 'Packing light isn't about sacrificing comfort,' Inglis says. 'It's about travelling smarter and refusing to pay extra for things you never use.'
