Barclays is shutting down its dedicated Barclaycard website today, directing customers to use its mobile app for account management. The bank cited the increasing number of users opting for app-based banking as the reason for the change.
The Barclaycard brand, owned by Barclays, serves over five million customer accounts in the UK. An email sent to customers, as reported on Reddit, stated: “Your Barclaycard online servicing is closing on 10 June 2026. We understand that a change like this can be unexpected, but this won’t affect your account or how you use your card in any way.”
A Barclays spokesperson confirmed the move, saying: “Following a review, we will be simplifying things for customers by replacing the dedicated Barclaycard website with account servicing via Barclays online banking. This change will be implemented gradually and with no loss of access to online banking for those who use it regularly.”
Customers will still be able to apply for new cards or manage accounts through the Barclaycard or Barclays apps, telephone banking, or in branches. The announcement comes amid reports that Barclays plans to open new high street branches and reintroduce bank managers, aiming to provide human support alongside digital services.
