Walkers Launches New Quavers Red Leicester Flavour, Divides Fans

Walkers has announced a new flavour for its Quavers crisps, Red Leicester, set to hit shelves by the end of July. The cheesy snack, first launched in 1968, will be available initially at Tesco, with other major supermarkets stocking the flavour from September.

Reactions on social media have been mixed. Some fans have expressed excitement, with one Facebook user on the New Foods UK page declaring, 'What a time to be alive,' while another predicted the crisps would be nice. However, others questioned the distinction between Red Leicester and regular cheese, with one commenter stating they could not tell the difference.

The new flavour follows Walkers' recent addition of Smokin' BBQ Sauce crisps to its core range, which has drawn comparisons to the discontinued BBQ Rib flavour. Fans have long campaigned for the return of BBQ Rib, with petitions and social media pleas, but Walkers has not revived that specific variety.
