I Tried Trafford Centre's New Lindt Pick 'n' Mix and Got a Surprise
Lindt Pick 'n' Mix at Trafford Centre: Sweet Surprise Await

The new Lindt chocolate shop at the Trafford Centre has opened its doors, featuring an extensive pick 'n' mix station filled with the brand's famous chocolate balls. The store, which opened two weeks ago, is Lindt's second location in Greater Manchester after the Manchester Arndale and the 30th in the UK.

A Colourful Array of Flavours

The vibrant window display promises over 25 different flavours of Lindor balls available for customers to create their own bags at the Pick Your Mix station. In addition to the classic options, there are quirky extras like yellow smiley faces and chocolate hearts. In total, shoppers can choose from 34 different individual options, many of which are exclusive to the store.

As a self-proclaimed chocoholic, I decided to test out the new Pick Your Mix and see what flavours I could bag up. Upon entering the shop, I was greeted by a vast trough of colourful Lindor balls, featuring flavours such as pistachio, matcha, strawberries and cream, champagne, and popcorn. Two new store exclusives were also available: cherry blossom sakura and golden caramel hazelnut.

How the Pick Your Mix Works

The process is simple: choose a bag or a box, then walk around and select your preferred chocolates. Staff members are on hand to assist. Pricing is set at £4.99 per 100g, which is slightly more expensive than a traditional box of Lindor balls (137g for £5.50). However, the appeal lies in the exclusive flavours and the ability to customise your selection. For those buying in bulk, the price drops to £4.25 per 100g for purchases over 400g, making it a cost-effective option for gifts or parties.

I admit I got a bit carried away, especially when I spotted new flavours like popcorn and the irresistible smiley faces. I also added some Lindt chocolate wafers to the mix. When I reached the counter, my bag weighed 293g, costing £14.62. It was a bit of a shock, but I decided to go with it.

An Unexpected Reward

As I prepared to pay, the cashier asked if I had a Lindt loyalty card. I had lost the physical card long ago, but he offered to check my details using my email. To my surprise, he informed me that I still had a birthday treat to redeem. My birthday was in March, but he explained that rewards can be claimed up to three months after the birthday. He then presented me with a box of classic red Lindor chocolate balls, worth £5.50.

This serves as a reminder for anyone who has signed up for a Lindt loyalty card: if you've had a birthday in the past three months and haven't collected your reward, it's waiting for you.

A Chocoholic's Paradise

While the Pick Your Mix is the main attraction, the shop is also stocked with every Lindt chocolate box and bar imaginable. If you have a sweet tooth, it's nearly impossible to leave empty-handed. The Lindt shop is open daily at the Trafford Centre, Upper Regent Crescent.
