John Lewis Unveils Major Restaurant Transformation Across 32 Stores

John Lewis has announced a significant overhaul of its in-store dining facilities, with plans to revamp 32 restaurants across its department store network by 2027. This ambitious initiative follows a two-year planning period and involves a partnership with the renowned catering firm Benugo to refresh the dining spaces.

Fresh Menus and Premium Quality Focus

The redesigned restaurants will prioritise fresh, premium-quality fare, featuring updated menus that include deli options, bakery items, and artisan pizza choices. All dishes will utilise locally-sourced produce, emphasising quality and sustainability. The transformation aims to enhance the customer experience by offering delicious food and drinks combined with the personal service that John Lewis customers expect.

New Brand Identity and Initial Locations

The revamped eateries will operate under a fresh brand identity and title, which will be unveiled when the first six locations undergo their makeover this summer. The initial outlets to experience the transformation include the fifth floor of the flagship Oxford Street branch in London, as well as stores in Chichester, Bluewater, Norwich, Nottingham, and Reading.

Construction Timeline and Completion

Construction is scheduled to begin between May and June this year, with all 32 restaurants expected to reach completion by 2027. This phased approach allows for a smooth rollout and minimal disruption to store operations.

She added that more details will be shared ahead of the first new spaces opening later this year.

Benugo currently operates cafés in iconic UK venues such as the Natural History Museum, St Paul's Cathedral, and Edinburgh Castle, as well as restaurants at destinations like ABBA Arena and Windsor Great Park.
