A nostalgic womenswear brand is preparing to make a comeback on UK high streets after an almost six-year absence. Evans, the plus-size fashion retailer, is set to return to more than 50 stores across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Evans to Feature in Yours Clothing Stores
The brand's clothing will be available in Yours Clothing branches at key locations, including the Braehead shopping centre in Glasgow, Bluewater in Kent, Belfast, Liverpool, and Manchester. Shoppers can expect to find dresses, tops, trousers, and occasionwear from the Evans range.
Evans originally closed all its standalone stores and concessions in December 2020 after its parent company entered administration. Since then, the retailer has continued to operate online.
Acquisition by AK Retail
In 2023, Evans was acquired by AK Retail, which also owns other fashion brands such as M&Co and Yours Clothing. The partnership aims to bring the beloved brand back to physical retail spaces.
Yours Clothing told Fashion Network: “Plus-size women are among the most loyal fashion shoppers in the UK. When a brand gets it right – when the fit works, the range is genuine, and the product reflects real women, they come back. Evans earned that loyalty over decades. And when the brand reduced its high street presence, its customers did not stop looking.”
Dedicated Spaces in Stores
The Evans range will be sold in dedicated product areas within major Yours Clothing branches. These sections will be staffed by teams who understand the plus-size customer, offering a shopping experience that Yours Clothing claims “the broader high street rarely does”.
Evans, founded in 1930, offers clothing in sizes 14 to 32. The brand is also set to appear in towns and cities such as Dublin, Leeds, Hull, Southend, Lakeside shopping centre in Essex, and Meadowhall in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
The announcement comes at a challenging time for UK retailers, who have been grappling with rising costs and shifting consumer behaviour. Despite these difficulties, Evans is making a confident return to the high street.
