Dr Beckmann vs Elbow Grease: Which Removes Makeup Stains Better?
Dr Beckmann vs Elbow Grease: Stain Removal Test

A writer tested two popular stain removers, Dr Beckmann and Elbow Grease, to remove stubborn foundation stains from a white England shirt. Both products delivered impressive results, completely eliminating the marks.

The Mistake

The author, Ellen Jenne, made the common error of not removing her makeup before taking off her white England shirt after a night out. This left two noticeable orange foundation stains on the collar.

The Products Tested

Two products were chosen for the test: Dr Beckmann Stain Devils Pre-Wash, purchased for £2.75 at Waitrose, and Elbow Grease Stain Remover Bar, bought for £1 at Poundland.

Application Process

Dr Beckmann was applied directly to the stain using rubber bristles and left to soak for 10 minutes before washing. The Elbow Grease bar required wetting the stain with cold water and rubbing the bar directly onto the fabric.

Initial Observations

The Dr Beckmann product seemed to make the foundation disappear almost instantly. The Elbow Grease bar was more difficult to apply, as its edges crumbled when rubbed vigorously.

The Results

After washing, both stains were completely gone. The white collar was restored to its original condition, with no trace of the orange foundation.

Verdict

Both products performed excellently. Dr Beckmann offered immediate satisfaction, while Elbow Grease required more effort but still delivered perfect results. The author recommends both as effective stain removers.
