Baileys 1L Drops to £11 at Tesco & Sainsbury's in Major Price Cut
Baileys 1L slashed to £11 at Tesco and Sainsbury's

Supermarkets Slash Price of Popular Irish Cream Liqueur

Shoppers across the UK have a reason to celebrate as two of the country's largest supermarkets have launched a dramatic price cut on a festive favourite. Tesco and Sainsbury's have both reduced the price of a 1-litre bottle of Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur to just £11. This represents a saving of over 50% for consumers.

The offer, which began on November 17, is exclusively available to members of the supermarkets' loyalty schemes. At Tesco, you will need a Clubcard to access the £11 price, while Sainsbury's requires a Nectar card. Without these cards, the bottle will cost the standard price of £22.50 at Tesco and £22 at Sainsbury's.

How Prices Compare Across Other Retailers

This new deal makes Tesco and Sainsbury's the current cheapest places to buy the 1L bottle. The competition has not yet matched this aggressive pricing. Asda is currently selling the same size for £13.98, while Morrisons has it priced at £14.

It is worth noting that Morrisons recently had a similar promotion, briefly dropping their price to £11, but it has since reverted to the higher figure. This indicates that such deep discounts are likely to be short-lived, so shoppers are advised to act quickly.

Looking back at historical deals, last year saw even steeper discounts. Morrisons offered the 1L bottle for £8.50 for those with a More card, and both Sainsbury's and Tesco matched each other with a £10 price point for their loyalty members.

A Timely Reminder on Expiring Clubcard Vouchers

The Baileys promotion coincides with a crucial deadline for Tesco shoppers. The supermarket is urging its customers to check their accounts, as £16.5 million worth of Clubcard vouchers are set to expire at the end of November. These vouchers must be redeemed before midnight on November 30.

For those unfamiliar with the scheme, Tesco Clubcard points are earned on most purchases. Shoppers get one point for every pound spent on groceries in-store and online, or one point for every two litres of fuel bought at a Tesco petrol station. Spending on Tesco Mobile, Tesco credit cards, and the Clubcard Pay+ debit card also accrues points.

These points convert into vouchers, with a minimum of 150 points needed to generate a £1.50 voucher to spend in-store. With over 24 million UK households holding a Tesco Clubcard, the potential for missed savings is significant.

Shama Wilson, Tesco Group Membership and Loyalty Director, emphasised the value, stating: "We don't want anyone to miss out on making the most of their Tesco Clubcard Vouchers... The value of vouchers expiring is higher than usual this quarter." She illustrated the scale by noting that the expiring vouchers could secure 6.6 million cinema tickets or £49.5 million in reward codes at PizzaExpress if exchanged.

In related money-saving news, bargain expert Jordon Cox, known as the 'Coupon King' on ITV's This Morning, has shared a tip for Tesco shoppers. He revealed that products on a Clubcard Price promotion have a six-digit code that indicates when the offer is due to end, helping savvy shoppers identify the best time to buy before a deal disappears.
