Arsenal eye Morgan Rogers and Eli Junior Kroupi in busy summer window
Arsenal target Rogers and Kroupi in summer overhaul

Arsenal are preparing for an incredibly busy summer transfer window as they aim to build on their Premier League title success and meet Mikel Arteta's demands for progress.

Arteta's vision for the summer

Speaking after the Champions League final defeat, Arteta emphasised the need for ambitious decisions to elevate the squad. He stated: "We'll start to make some very important decisions if we want to reach another level. It's going to demand us to be very ambitious, very fast and very smart."

Contract discussions are ongoing with Arteta, whose current deal expires at the end of next season. The club is eager to secure his future with a significant pay rise, but Arteta's focus remains on transfer activity to strengthen the team.

Morgan Rogers: a primary target

Morgan Rogers, a player Arteta greatly admires, is high on Arsenal's wishlist. There is a growing belief that the 23-year-old could move this summer, despite having five years left on his contract at Aston Villa. Villa face financial pressures and may be forced to sell, with Arsenal potentially needing to match their record £105m fee for Declan Rice to secure Rogers.

Rogers is seen as an ideal fit due to his versatility to play centrally or on the left, and his physical attributes suit Arsenal's demands across four competitions. Arteta values Premier League-proven players, having previously signed Rice, Eberechi Eze, and Kai Havertz.

Left wing priority and Kroupi interest

Signing a left winger is a top priority. Gabriel Martinelli scored only one Premier League goal this season, and Leandro Trossard endured a 25-game goal drought. Both players face uncertain futures, prompting Arsenal to seek fresh options.

Eli Junior Kroupi is also a target, but competition is fierce. The 19-year-old scored 13 goals in his debut Premier League season after joining Bournemouth for £10m from Lorient. Bournemouth, now in European competition, are reluctant to sell, with a bid close to £100m likely needed to test their resolve.

Outgoings and financial strategy

Despite interest in Rogers and Kroupi, Arsenal are not expected to match last summer's £250m spending spree. Instead, a busier window for outgoings is anticipated, with Gabriel Jesus likely to leave. The Brazilian has 12 months left on his contract, and Arsenal want around £20m for him. If no suitable bid arrives, they will let him leave for free next summer.

Christian Norgaard may also depart after failing to win Arteta's trust, while Ethan Nwaneri could be sold for pure profit if a suitable offer arrives. Myles Lewis-Skelly, once a potential exit candidate, has secured his place with strong midfield performances in the final month of the season.

Midfield decisions and Vieira situation

Talks are ongoing with Hamburg over Fabio Vieira's future. The 26-year-old spent the season on loan in Germany and wants to stay, but Hamburg are unwilling to meet the €22m (£19m) option fee, instead offering around €10m (£8.6m). Arsenal are resigned to making a significant loss on the £35m paid for him in 2022, as there are no plans for his return.

With Arteta's contract extension and key transfer moves, Arsenal aim to strengthen their squad to compete at the highest level next season.
